You know the Everything But the Bagel Spice blend that is all the rage right now?! Combining it with kale just seemed like a logical idea when your diet doesn’t include too many bagels. And I was totally right, these kale chips are awesome.
The bagel spice blend typically includes a mixture of poppy seeds, white sesame seeds, black sesame seeds, dried minced garlic, dried minced onion and sea salt. While there are plenty of diy blends and recipes out there, I prefer to buy my spice mix from either Trader Joe’s or Balanced Bites. Highly recommending grabbing a bottle to start experimenting!
What else can I use the bagel blend for you might ask?! Add it to mashed avocado, use on hard boiled or scrambled eggs, on chicken or tuna salad or on roasted vegetables! Really, this blend is pretty versatile! But still my favorite use of it is on these Kale Chips!! I love making these in my air fryer but still utilize the oven method from time to time, which is why I have included both methods!
Everything But the Bagel Kale Chips (Paleo)
(PALEO, WHOLE30, GLUTEN-FREE, DAIRY-FREE, REFINED SUGAR-FREE)
YIELD: ~ 2 cups SERVES: 2-3
PREP TIME: 5 MINUTES COOK TIME: ~10 MINUTES
3 cups kale, cut from stem and chopped into 1″ pieces
- Massage kale with either the ghee or coconut oil and let sit a few minutes.
- Add in the Bagel Spice blend and mix well to coat kale pieces
- If using the oven method – preheat oven to 350 degrees and spread kale chips on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10 minutes or until nice and crispy (set a timer as these burn easily!!).
- If using the air fryer method, there is no need to preheat – simply bake for 3 minutes or until crispy.
